CalFresh Awareness Month

This month marks a 10 year anniversary towards a campaign intended to increase access and participation in food assistance, reduce hunger and promote good nutrition. We are happy to join the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Department of Public Social Services, the United States Department of Agriculture- Food and Nutrition Services, California Department of Social Services and various community partners in increasing CalFresh awareness to our community.

In June 2019, CalFresh benefits opened its doors to Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment (SSI/SSP) recipients. This means SSI/SSP recipients may potentially be eligible for CalFresh without any change to the monthly SSI/SSP benefit. If you are interested in applying for this benefit you can consider the following:

  • By telephone if you call the Customer Service Center (CSC) (866) 613-3777
  • DPSS Offices -for customers to pick up and return at a later time or date. The drop off box containing the completed and returned applications will be checked by DPSS personnel throughout the day.
