This workshop helps families understand what happens when a child receiving Regional Center Early Start services under IDEA Part C approaches age three and transitions to school district special education services under IDEA Part B.
Families will learn about the transition process, important timelines, how school district eligibility is determined, what to expect during special education assessments and the first IEP meeting, and how Early Start services differ from preschool special education services. The workshop also reviews key parent rights, common special education terms, and practical steps families can take to prepare for a smooth transition.
